Shari Smith, a resident of Fairfield Glade, Tennessee, has been a patient at Life Care Center of Crossville, Tennessee, three times – each time, to recover from surgery.
It started with back surgery in June 2014. Smith worked with the physical and occupational therapists at the center to meet her rehabilitation goals.
“The experience was positive,” Smith shared. “I completed my therapy and went home and then returned after hip surgery four weeks later. Without the therapy department, my experience would not have had such positive results.”
Again, her rehabilitation from the hip surgery took her only a couple of weeks.
In December 2015, Smith returned for therapy after undergoing knee surgery. When she arrived this most recent time, she needed minimal assistance with walking, bed mobility, sitting and standing and climbing stairs, as well as bathing and getting dressed. By this time of course, she knew what to expect.
“Christy Connor (physical therapist assistant) was my therapist before, so we reconnected,” said Smith. “Each time I come, the facility continues to improve. The housekeeping staff is impeccable, and the nursing staff is still top-notch!”
“Mrs. Shari always works hard during each therapy session,” said Connor. “Her determination to return to independent living is a huge factor in her success. She is a blessing to be around and treat.”
Smith was able to return home on Jan. 5, 2016, and continued therapy as an outpatient until Jan. 27. She is now able to take care of herself on her own again and walk independently.
