After spinal decompression surgery in her back, Charmaine Pratt chose to come to Life Care Center of Crossville, Tennessee, for rehabilitation.
When she arrived on July 12, 2019, Pratt needed extensive assistance to get dressed, as well as moderate assistance for bathing and some assistance for walking, getting in and out of bed, standing balance and wheelchair mobility.
Pratt got working with physical and occupational therapists on restoring her mobility and independence. She worked on building up strength in PT, which helped her with her walking. In OT, she worked on the self-care skills she would need at home, especially bathing and getting dressed.
“Charmaine was very motivated to return to or surpass her previous abilities,” said Ed Gadd, physical therapist assistant. “She actively worked to improve every treatment and was a joy to work with during her stay here.”
Pratt returned home on July 26, independent in her mobility and activities of daily living.
“Everybody was wonderful to me here,” Pratt said.
