Danny Dunaway came to Life Care Center of Crossville, Tennessee, for rehabilitation on July 12, 2019, to recover from abdominal surgery, sepsis and muscle weakness.
“When I first came, I could not get out of bed,” Dunaway remembered. “Now I can walk without even the use of a walker.”
Dunaway’s time in physical and occupational therapy made the difference for him. PT worked with him on leg strength and walking, while OT focused on dressing skills, upper-body strength and endurance.
“Mr. Dunaway is a very hardworking and motivated man,” said Lisa Cravens, physical therapist assistant.
“He met all of his goals and is able to walk without his walker when he goes home,” added Kari Browning, occupational therapist assistant. “We’re very proud of him.”
Dunaway returned home on July 26.
“Everything has been excellent,” he said. “They did everything I asked them to and more. Care was prompt and wonderful from nursing and therapy.”
